Legacy Giving

With more than 120 years of experience serving the community, the YMCA of Sault Ste. Marie has provided children, youth, adults and families with a wide range of valuable services. The Y has empowered individuals of all ages to reach their full potential.

Your future and the future of those you care about most will be a reflection of the plans you make today. It is possible for these plans to help not only you and your family, but others as well. By making a planned gift to the Y, you have the satisfaction of knowing that your gift will last as a personal legacy to enrich the lives of others for generations to come.

Legacy Giving Includes:

GIFTS OF CASH

You can make cash, credit card payment, cheque or money order payable to the YMCA of Greater Saint John. Post-dated cheques are accepted and credit card payments may be made through authorization of monthly amounts.

BEQUEST IN WILL
You can designate your gift in your will to the YMCA of Sault Ste. Marie.

Here is Bequest Terminology that you may use in your Will:

“I give and bequeath to the YMCA of Sault Ste. Marie Endowment Fund the sum of xxxxx for uses and purposes of the YMCA as its Board of Directors may determine.”

To ensure the usefulness of your bequest you might want to add:

“In the event that unforeseen circumstances makes the specified use of this bequest no longer practical or desirable, the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Sault Ste. Marie is hereby authorized to make changes in its use in keeping as far as possible with the spirit and general intent of the bequest.”

GIFTS OF LIFE INSURANCE
When you make YMCA of Sault Ste. Marie the owner and beneficiary of your life insurance policy, the YMCA can issue a tax receipt for the full value of your policy premiums. When you make the YMCA of Sault Ste. Marie the beneficiary, but retain ownership of the policy, a tax receipt for the value of the benefit will be issued your estate.

GIVE A GIFT IN HONOUR OR IN MEMORY
To honour someone’s memory, many families prefer donations to charity in lieu of flowers. You can choose how you would like the gift to be directed and donors will receive a tax receipt. Some families wish to name a special fund after a loved one, with the proceeds going to support a YMCA program or service that is of special interest to the family.
