Babysitting/Home Alone Courses

Get involved in your community, make new friends and develop your potential as a participant of the YMCA Youth Leadership program. It is an exciting, engaging program for youth grades 5 through 12. By having access to the right kinds of opportunities, young people will find their voice and learn how important it is to be a part of building a healthier community. Babysitting Courses 

Learn the essentials of caring for young children in a fun and supportive environment. Designed for youth ages 12–14, this hands-on course builds confidence and teaches practical skills every babysitter needs, including: 

  • Caring for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children 
  • Planning age-appropriate games and activities 
  • Creating safe, positive environments and preventing injuries 
  • Making decisions and solving problems in emergencies 
  • Practicing basic first aid skills 
  • Participants will leave feeling prepared, capable, and confident to take on babysitting responsibilities safely and responsibly.

Home Alone Courses 

Help your child gain confidence and skills to stay home safely and responsibly. Designed for youth ages 10-13, this interactive course teaches practical strategies to handle real-life situations with confidence and care. 

Participants will learn to: 

  • Create a safe and positive environment while home alone 
  • Make safe decisions and problem-solve in everyday scenarios 
  • Prevent injuries and respond calmly in emergencies 
  • Practice basic first aid skills 

 By the end of the course, youth will feel prepared, capable, and confident to look after themselves for short periods of time. 

Fees: 

  • Member: $60.00 
  • Non-Member: $90.00
