Looking to make the most of your time at the YMCA? Our Child Minding Service at the Playcentre is here to help!
Designed for children aged 8 months to 5 years, our program offers a safe and fun environment where your little ones can enjoy gentle games and activities under the supervision of our trustworthy staff.
Whether you want to participate in a class, enjoy a swim, hit the fitness center, or simply take a few moments to yourself, we’ve got you covered.
We offer two convenient time slots:
- 9:00-10:15 am, and
- 10:15-11:30 am
You can book one or both slots to suit your schedule.

- Child minding hours may expand with higher demand
- Registration can be completed online for children aged 2+, for children under 2 please register in person
- A VITAL INFORMATION FORM must be completed before dropping off a child
- Refunds are unavailable regardless of circumstances

Please review our childminding Policy before registering:
Guardians using the Child Minding service must have a current membership.
Upon entering the building, a guardian must scan their membership card before using the Child Minding service.
Before dropping a child off, a VITAL INFORMATION FORM must be filled in person and submitted to the Child Minding staff. Guardians must indicate their phone number and where they will be in the building.
Guardians can register for child minding services for up to 2 blocks per day (9:00-10:15am, 10:15-11:30am).
Guardians must stay in the building for the entire duration of using the service.
Guardians should be engaging in health and wellness activities offered by the YMCA.
Children should not have any visible signs of illness and be in good health. Children must be awake when dropped off.
Children must remove shoes when entering the Child Minding room to keep a clean and sanitary space.
Children are encouraged to listen and behave respectfully. Extreme behavior will result in the guardian being called for early pick-up. Extreme behavior is described as physical aggression of any kind, throwing objects, possible safety concern for staff and/or other participants.
Guardians are responsible for diaper changes, as our staff does not provide this service. Staff will call the parents when a suspected change is needed.
Drinks and snacks (nut free) are all welcome, and we encourage guardians to pack a water bottle.
Refunds will not be issued for Child Minding services.
A VITAL INFORMATION FORM must be completed and submitted before or at time of registration.
The guardian who drops off the child at the Child Minding service must be the same individual who picks up the child. If someone else will be picking up the child, the guardian must inform the Child Minding staff in advance and clearly authorize the new individual for pick-up.
- Where is this service located & where do I drop off my child?
This service is located in our Playcentre and children will be dropped off with our childminding staff at that location.
- When do I drop off my child?
We suggest 5 minutes before your scheduled drop-off time to ensure proper paperwork and information have been filled.
- How do I register?
You can register online & in person. In both cases, you will be required to fill out a VITAL INFORMATION FORM for your initial visit, after which the staff member will confirm the information with you for each following visit.
- What happens if my child needs me?
We need your contact information (found on the Vital Camper Information Form) and your planned whereabouts in the building in case your child needs you or for a diaper change.
- Will food/drink be provided?
No, you are responsible for providing NUT FREE snacks/drinks for your child.
- What will they do during this time?
Kids will have fun with some gentle games and activities within the Playcentre
- Who will be watching them?
Our trained and trustworthy staff will be overseeing your little one while you partake in a workout, group fitness classes, swimming etc.
- What can I do while my child is being watched?
You can do whatever you would like in this building! We encourage individuals to attend our wellness offerings and make the most out of your independent time with us.
- What if I book a spot and no longer need it? Or if I book a spot and do not show?
There will be no refunds for our childminding program.
