Statement of Commitment to
Persons with Disabilities

The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA is committed to providing an accessible recreations, learning and working environment for the people of Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding areas. It is the Sault Ste. Marie’s YMCA’s goal to create a community that is inclusive of all persons and support all members of the community in an equitable manner. In creating such a community, the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA aims to foster a climate of understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and worth of all persons. 

The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA will support and facilitate the accommodation of individuals with disabilities so that they are able to access all the opportunities that the YMCA offers. 

The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA is committed to supporting the goals of the Ontario Human Rights Code (1962)and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (‘AODA’). The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA will establish policies, practices and procedures which are consistent with the accessibility standards established under the AODA (2005), to identify, remove and prevent barriers to people with disabilities. The goal is to become a barrier-free environment.
